What a weekend it was! We were proud to celebrate with our partners from the Jewish Community of Southern Maine and support the LGBTQIA+ community at Pride! Portland.
We began the morning with Shabbat Worship at Shay’s Grill Pub, right at Monument Square. Over twenty people joined us as we prayed in rainbow kippot with special prayer books made for the day.
We joined the parade with the Jewish Community of Southern Maine, walking under one banner from Monument Square to Deering Oaks Park. Our banner? “Happy Pride from the People Who Brought You the Rainbow.” During the festival in Deering Oaks Park we handed out challah and–wait for it–rainbow unicorn lollipops.
