The purpose of the Religious School at Congregation Bet Ha'am is to help parents guide children toward fulfilling Jewish lives. Raising a Jewish child requires both the formal component provided by our educational program and the day–to–day experience of Jewish life provided at home. In Religious School, our youth study the language, literature, culture and values of our people. At home, they apply this knowledge to their unique realities. When school and home combine successfully, children see themselves as part of the greater fabric of the Jewish people and the Jewish tradition.more

We believe that extracurricular programming for teen-agers is essential to the development of their identity as Jews. Our students participate in a variety of events geared to teen-agers throughout the year. These events are sometimes purely social and sometimes involve social action in the community. The junior high and high school students in our congregation have their own youth groups and, because of our membership in the URJ, our young people are able to participate in a wide variety of social, educational, camp and Israel travel programs. Jewish learning is treasured at Congregation Bet Ha'am. We offer early childhood and adult learning opportunities, including Hebrew language instruction and bar/bat mitzvah preparation. Torah study is held every Shabbat morning. Our religious school serves more than 200 students from kindergarten through high school.

Saturday morning Torah study is held at 9:00 am with Rabbi Alice Dubinsky. The discussion begins with an aspect of the weekly Sidra and an open discussion follows. There are always many questions about the meaning of various passages, usually with exciting insights into the different interpretations of the verses, most of which come from traditional rabbinic commentaries or from the reactions of those participating in the session. Join us and share in finding contemporary meaning to this ancient Jewish text. Our Saturday morning worship services immediately follows at 10:00 am in the sanctuary. more
