Congregation Bet Ha’am, located in South Portland, Maine is the spiritual home for an active and growing community of Reform Jews. With more than 360 member households, over 205 Religious School students from pre-school to high school, weekly Shabbat worship and Torah study, and dozens of other opportunities each month for learning about and participating in Jewish life, Bet Ha’am plays a large role in the Jewish community of Southern Maine. Construction of our new sanctuary has progressed at a rapid pace. The new building opening on Friday, May 1 brought out a full house of congregation members to see the hanging of mezuzahs and the passing of our Torahs from the old sancuary to the new one. A festive oneg with klezmer music following the evening service. We hope that all of our community members can come see our wonderful new home.
