We believe that extracurricular programming for teen-agers is essential to the development of their identity as Jews. Our students participate in a variety of events geared to teenagers throughout the year. These events are sometimes purely social and sometimes involve social action in the community. The junior high and high school students in our congregation have their own youth groups and, because of our membership in the URJ, our young people are able to participate in a wide variety of social, educational, camp and Israel travel programs.
SPORTY

SPORTY (South Portland Organization of Reform Temple Youth), the Congregation Bet Ha’am senior youth group, is a wonderful outlet for teens in grades nine through twelve to stay connected to the synagogue after their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. SPORTY members are committed to social action and many of them serve as teacher's aides in the Religious School.

SPORTY meets monthly for meetings, educational programs or social events. SPORTY is governed by its own board. In addition, the teens in our youth group are associated with the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). Our members attend conclaves and camps within the Northeast Region, throughout the US and Israel.

For more information, please contact the office, or for a SPORTY application click here.
