The Congregation Bet Ha'am library houses a collection of books and information resources relating to Judaism and Israel with a focus on promoting Jewish literacy.
A collection of Judaica for all ages is being developed including theology, liturgy, Jewish and Israeli history, Zionism and varieties of Jewish experience. Reference materials, primary and secondary source materials, fiction and non-fiction, in print and non-print formats are included.
While the Library is presently confined to limited space, there is much to be appreciated in the stacks. Through generous donations from several personal libraries, the Bet Ha’am Library has a very good collection on a broad range of subjects: biblical study, the history of Judaism, Palestine, Israel, European Jewry, the Holocaust, the history of Jewish life in America, art, archeology in the Middle East, Jewish literature, and fiction. There are materials on a wide range of subjects including holiday celebrations, life cycle experiences, and cooking, to name but a few.
The Library is open to members of Congregation Bet Ha’am with most books being circulated for a period of two weeks. Some volumes such as the Steinsaltz edition of the Talmud are available for study in the Synagogue and must be returned to the shelf each day.
Any questions concerning the Library can be directed to the office or send us an email.
