A Different Story

by Toby Rosenberg, congregant

This spring Bet Ha’am’s annual gala fundraiser, A Storied Affair, will transform into an exciting virtual event we are calling A Different StoryStill happening on May 30, we’ve moved the start time into prime time, 8:00 PM.

And although we can’t serve a sumptuous, five-course meal, we promise three stellar writers who will fill your evening with literary delights. They are:

Stuart Kestenbaum, Maine’s esteemed poet laureate and the man behind Maine Public Radio’s Poems From Here

Steve Steinbock, author and beloved former Bet Ha’am member, now living in Washington state, debuting a new story inspired by his recent travels in Japan

Lisa Mayer, the ever-entertaining “Maine Rebbitzin,” from Temple Shalom in Auburn, Maine

We anticipate some engaging interaction between the audience and the writers as we spend a much-needed evening together.

We hope that you will give generously to support the evening and Bet Ha’am. Click here to buy tickets (sliding scale) or to make a contribution. If you prefer, you may register by calling Karen Hindall in the office.

Also on May 30, we will have a drawing for our raffle. The raffle is a playful way to expand the fundraising power of A Different Story. Wishing on your dreams will help secure an enduring future for Bet Ha’am. We hope you will play along!
