Call For Writer Submissions

Loading Events

Congregation Bet Ha’am is pleased to announce the 2nd annual A Storied Affair, Saturday, April 6, 2019. Our Spring Gala event will feature 10-15 minute readings of original stories, flash fiction, essays, and poetry by Maine writers, interspersed with an indulgent, 5-course meal.

Submission deadline is February 1, 2019. There is no submission fee.

  • Our theme this year is ‘Return’, however you may interpret that idea.  However please remember that our goal is to provide an uplifting and entertaining event, and stories should reflect that goal.
  • You should submit the work you intend to share at the event.
  • The work should be able to be presented in a maximum of 10 to 15 minutes.
  • All work will be submitted electronically at bethaam.org/writer

Selected writers and a guest will be honored at the dinner. Talented proxy readers are available on request.

For questions, please contact Toby Rosenberg, story@bethaam.org.

Help Spread the Word
If you aren’t a writer or storyteller yourself, please help us spread the word. We’re accepting submissions from the whole Maine community, not just members of Bet Ha’am. Feel free to forward this email to friends and family who you think may be interested.

Also, we’d be grateful if you printed a copy or two of our flier, here>>, and posted it in places where it might get seen: a nearby bookstore, coffee shop, etc.

Thank you!

-The Storied Affair Planning Crew

Pay Member Dues

Bet Ha’am plays an important role in all of our lives, providing an open door for all during High Holidays and throughout the year.

The need for supporting the Annual Fund cannot be overstated. These unrestricted funds ensure we can cover our basic, day-to-day needs and meet our budgetary responsibilities, from salaries to building maintenance to Hebrew School supplies.

Membership dues do not cover the full cost of Bet Ha’am’s operations. We rely on the generous support of our members and friends to make Bet Ha’am available to all, regardless of ability to pay.

Judaica Shop

Congregation Bet Ha’am’s Judaica Shop is establishing itself as a leading regional opportunity for unique Judaica jewelry, holiday gifts and supplies, children’s items, and everyday items.  The Judaica Shop is open 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Tuesday-Friday and Sunday mornings when our Religious School is open.  Please call (207) 879-0028 for inquiries or requests for special order items.  This page will soon have photos and ordering information for specific Judaica items.
