https://www.bethaam.org/get-involved/library/sept-oct-2015-chadashot/The Bet Ha’am library serves as the intellectual heart of the congregation. Its mission is to provide a collection of information resources and programming relating to Jews, Judaism and Israel, and to promote Jewish literacy.

The collection includes 2,300 volumes. The library is committed to excellence in providing materials and programming to enhance educational, religious, and social activities of the congregation. The library also establishes, collects and maintains the congregational archives.

The handsome library facility offers WiFi and serves as a welcoming gathering place for reading, study and contemplation for individuals, small classes and groups, and for informal get-togethers. Baskets of toys and books are available for use by small children during services.

The library’s collection serves the Bet Ha’am family. Judaica, Hebrew texts, commentaries, histories, novels, how-to-books, tapes and CDs, an extensive reference collection, and recent magazines of Jewish interest—you’ll find them all and more on the library shelves. The collection is classified under the Library of Congress classification scheme and may be accessed from a computer in the library.

Library Hours

The library is open whenever the synagogue building is open.

How to Borrow Books

Library cards are issued to congregants who wish to borrow books (no fines, just call to renew and return books when you are finished).

How to Donate to the Library

The library collection is expanded and maintained by a volunteer committee of congregants. Potential gift volumes must be reviewed by the Library Committee. Consider making a donation to the Adult Library Fund through the Bet Ha’am Donor Gallery when celebrating a simcha or remembering a loved one’s yahrtzeit. Your contribution will be used to purchase new books for the collection.

Pay Member Dues

Bet Ha’am plays an important role in all of our lives, providing an open door for all during High Holidays and throughout the year.

The need for supporting the Annual Fund cannot be overstated. These unrestricted funds ensure we can cover our basic, day-to-day needs and meet our budgetary responsibilities, from salaries to building maintenance to Hebrew School supplies.

Membership dues do not cover the full cost of Bet Ha’am’s operations. We rely on the generous support of our members and friends to make Bet Ha’am available to all, regardless of ability to pay.
