Introduction to Judaism and Conversion

Judaism is a rich tradition of rituals, practices, and beliefs. While our tradition tells us that we are to be a light to the nations, Judaism prohibits us from actively seeking converts to Judaism. Still, conversion is quite possible and many people find their path to spiritual fulfillment through the traditions of Judaism. Because Judaism is first and foremost a religion of deed and secondarily of creed, meaning that it is our actions that lead to belief rather than the other way around, conversion to Judaism is often an intense and extensive process.

Bet Ha’am offers the opportunity for you to explore Judaism more deeply, whether or not you are interested in conversion, or even if you were born Jewish and want to add to your Jewish knowledge base. The first formal step to deepening your connection to Judaism on this path is taking an Introduction to Judaism course, which Bet Ha’am offers every two years. Past participants in our Introduction to Judaism course have come from a variety of faith backgrounds, some Jewish, some not, some seeking conversion, some simply seeking a deeper understanding of Jewish history, tradition, and ritual. If you are exploring Judaism and perhaps considering conversion, first know that our worship services, our adult learning opportunities, our holiday celebrations, and so much more are open to you. Be in touch with Rabbi Saks if you would like to sign up for our next Introduction to Judaism course which will be offered again in the winter of 2016.

Pay Member Dues

Bet Ha’am plays an important role in all of our lives, providing an open door for all during High Holidays and throughout the year.

The need for supporting the Annual Fund cannot be overstated. These unrestricted funds ensure we can cover our basic, day-to-day needs and meet our budgetary responsibilities, from salaries to building maintenance to Hebrew School supplies.

Membership dues do not cover the full cost of Bet Ha’am’s operations. We rely on the generous support of our members and friends to make Bet Ha’am available to all, regardless of ability to pay.
