Volunteer Opportunities
There are countless ways to get connected to the community here at Bet Ha’am. One of the beautiful things about our congregation is how many of our events are completely volunteer-run.
There are holiday-specific volunteer opportunities, as well as ongoing weekly volunteer shifts to support services and other goings-on.
To see all upcoming volunteer opportunities, please click
here. Be sure to check back periodically, as new opportunities will arise as we move throughout the year!
If there is a skill or interest you have that you would like to use in service of the congregation, please email Ren Wittenstein, our Membership Engagement Coordinator, at volunteers@bethaam.org.

Purpose - The committee along with our part time gardener manage the sanctuary garden and the surrounding grounds of Bet Ha’am. We also oversee our raised beds that provide food for the South Portland Food Pantry. The committee sponsors a May Plant Sale, our major fundraiser and the Tu B’ishvat seder held typically in either January or February. We also sponsor two garden spruce up days a year.
How to Get Involved - If you are interested in committee work and/or helping out with our volunteer activities, please reach out to the chairperson via email.
